  • The Walt Disney Company in connection with its $10.6 billion sale of 21 Regional Sports Networks and Fox College Sports to Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc.;
  • Pitney Bowes Inc. in connection with the $700 million sale of its Software Solutions business to Syncsort;
  • Dataxu, Inc. in connection with its $150 million sale to Roku, Inc.;
  • WeWork Companies Inc. in connection with its purchase of Prolific Interactive LLC; and
  • Several technology and life sciences startups and venture capital firms in preferred stock financings and general corporate matters.

Shakera also has substantial capital markets experience, including structuring and documenting shelf offerings, Rule 144A debt offerings, auction block trades and the purchase of senior secured convertible notes for financial institutions and mass media, professional services and life science businesses. In addition, Shakera has significant banking and credit experience, including structuring, advising and documenting bank finance transactions for financial institutions and corporations, including leveraged buyouts, acquisition financings, regular-way repricings and facilities for general corporate purposes.

Education and Achievements

Shakera graduated magna cum laude, finishing second in her class, from Howard University School of Law. While in law school, Shakera served as the Managing Editor of the Howard Law Journal. Shakera also received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for receiving the highest grade in twelve of her law school courses.

Shakera also graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University where she was on the Dean’s List and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Additionally, Shakera earned the Harvard Business School Online CORe (Credential of Readiness) in 2020 and passed with honors. Shakera was also recognized as Top 40 under 40 by the National Black Lawyers in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 and as a New York Metro Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2022.
